Barbee Auto Catalytic Converter Limited Warranty

Barbee Auto provides a limited warranty on qualifying catalytic converters against defects in materials and workmanship only.

Parts Warranty

Qualifying catalytic converters include a 6-Year / 60,000-Mile Limited Parts Warranty (or the manufacturer's warranty, if different). This warranty applies to the replacement catalytic converter part only and does not include labor, diagnostics, towing, rental vehicles, taxes, shop supplies, or any other related costs.

If a catalytic converter qualifies for warranty replacement under the manufacturer's warranty, the replacement part will be provided at no charge. Labor to diagnose, remove, reinstall, or replace the catalytic converter is not included under the manufacturer's parts warranty and is the responsibility of the customer.

Labor Warranty

Barbee Auto guarantees its installation workmanship. If a catalytic converter replacement is found to have been improperly installed by Barbee Auto (including, but not limited to, exhaust leaks, loose or missing fasteners, improperly installed gaskets, or similar installation-related defects), Barbee Auto will correct those workmanship-related issues at no charge during the applicable labor warranty period.

This labor warranty applies only to installation workmanship and does not extend or replace the manufacturer's parts warranty.

Warranty Exclusions

This limited warranty does not cover catalytic converters that are internally broken, melted, contaminated, clogged, rattling, or otherwise damaged due to underlying vehicle issues or external causes.

Warranty coverage is excluded for failures resulting from, including but not limited to:

  • Engine misfires.

  • Faulty spark plugs, ignition coils, injectors, or other ignition or fuel system components.

  • Rich or lean fuel conditions.

  • Oil or coolant contamination.

  • Engine mechanical failures.

  • Check engine light conditions that remain unrepaired.

  • Performance modifications, aftermarket engine calibrations, or tuning.

  • Physical impact, collision damage, or road debris.

  • Improper installation or repairs performed by another repair facility.

  • Continued operation of the vehicle after engine performance issues are present.

Catalytic converters damaged by an underlying engine performance issue are not considered defects in materials or workmanship and are not covered under this limited warranty.

Failure to repair or continued operation of the vehicle with a misfire, illuminated check engine light, fuel system malfunction, oil consumption issue, coolant consumption issue, or any other engine performance problem may void catalytic converter warranty coverage.

Conditions of Warranty

To remain eligible for warranty coverage, the following conditions must be met:

1. Required Repairs

If Barbee Auto identifies an underlying engine performance issue that contributed to the failure of the original catalytic converter and recommends corrective repairs or maintenance (including, but not limited to, tune-ups, spark plugs, ignition components, fuel system repairs, engine repairs, or other related services), all recommended repairs must be completed before warranty coverage becomes effective.

If the customer declines any recommended repair or maintenance related to the engine performance issue, the catalytic converter warranty is void, as continued operation with unresolved engine problems can damage the replacement catalytic converter.

2. Maintenance Requirements

The vehicle must be maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. Customers must provide maintenance records demonstrating routine maintenance, including, when applicable:

  • Oil changes

  • Tune-ups

  • Spark plug replacement

  • Ignition system maintenance

  • Fuel system maintenance

  • Other manufacturer-recommended services

Maintenance records must be from a licensed commercial automotive repair facility and clearly identify the vehicle, date of service, mileage, and services performed.

Repairs or maintenance performed by the vehicle owner (DIY) or maintenance that cannot be independently verified do not satisfy the maintenance documentation requirements for warranty consideration.

3. Unauthorized Modifications

This warranty is void if the catalytic converter or exhaust system has been modified, altered, removed, welded, repaired, or serviced by any person or repair facility other than Barbee Auto without prior written authorization.

Warranty Claims

All warranty claims are subject to inspection and approval by Barbee Auto. All warranty work must be performed exclusively by Barbee Auto, and no monetary payments or cash refunds will be made.

Diagnostic testing may be required to determine the cause of failure. Diagnostic charges, labor charges, and any additional repairs required to determine warranty eligibility are the responsibility of the customer unless a workmanship defect performed by Barbee Auto is confirmed.

Barbee Auto reserves the right to deny warranty coverage when evidence indicates that the catalytic converter failure resulted from an excluded condition, lack of required maintenance, declined recommended repairs, unauthorized modifications, or any cause other than a defect in materials or workmanship.
